What our clients are saying
Dr. Chris White is another powerhouse of information in the Veterinarian community.
He demonstrated just how knowledgeable he is when our horse sustained a lameness issue that could have ended her career. Dr. Chris White stepped in and found the issue quickly, created a plan and helped us through every step of the process. He was compassionate with us as owners but clear in what need to be achieved for the horses sake, giving her the best chance at doing what she bred to do. The Maritimes are lucky to have such an outstanding lameness expert here and we cannot thank him enough.
Dr. Damita Hansen is an exceptional Veterinarian with kindness towards each animal she is working with.
It is clear how much she loves what she does as she is exceedingly knowledgeable and always advancing in her discipline. For over two years she has taken care of our horses for regular check ups to advanced procedures. We are grateful to have her in our corner as we continue to compete and travel abroad. She has gone the extra mile with educating us on things that we need to know and we could not do all the things we want to do if it wasn't for Dr. Damita’s care. We are so very grateful for her.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Chris White in the winter of 2021, and subsequently his amazing partner in work and life Dr Damita Hansen.
From day 1 they have been an amazing team to work with. Professional kind, and a combination of knowledge and commitment for doing the absolute best for your equine partners.
I’m looking forward to working with them, as they pursue their future endeavours.
I am thrilled to know that Damita, Chris and Kristen will not only be staying here but also establishing their own practice. They are all so great at taking care of our equine friends. They are super knowledgeable, kind and patient with us humans and our horses.
I love their continuing education and openness to new and different modalities. We in NS are so lucky to have them here. I know they will continue to serve us so well and continue to expand into….who knows what?
All the best to my favorite vets.

The first time I met Dr. Hansen was when she was getting the lay of the land as my vet at the time had announced he was retiring. My barn has certainly put her to the ultimate test! We have seen ulcers, colic, a new foal, a heart attack, and a castration.
Dr. Hansen has risen to the task 110%!
Next, we were introduced to Dr. Hansen’s husband, Dr. White who was huge gain for us here in Nova Scotia being a lameness specialist! The last welcome addition was Dr. Pyke and it feels like she's been here for years! Having these 3, gives me a feeling of ease knowing they are here to continue caring for our horses! Lastly, if you are lucky enough you might meet Midge, Dr. Hansen’s truck poodle! Congratulations and I know you will rock this!
-Congrats, Lisa chute
We moved to Nova Scotia two and half years ago and we were very fortunate to have Dr. Hansen & Dr. White take our new Equestrian Centre under their wings. Moving our entire facility across Canada came with concerns, but we felt completely at home and felt confident with them as our vets from the initial meeting. We knew our horses and boarder horses would be under the best veterinary care.
We are beyond grateful for Dr. Hansen with her Chiropractic and Acupuncture education and skills. It is a regular for our performance horses and they would not perform the same without this maintenance as it makes them feel their absolute best. Damita then introduced us to Dr. Kristen Pyke which was another huge asset to us on multiple levels for our horses. From annual floatings and vaccines, to body maintenance, to addressing lameness, when to send to AVC and more - their knowledge, professionalism, expert advice and friendliness goes above and beyond. Thank you Damita, Chris & Kristen. We are all so grateful for everything you do.

When I had to change veterinarians a few years back, I found myself feeling anxious about where to go for quality, trustworthy vet care for my horses in which I've been very accustomed to. It was during a time when many clinics were not accepting new clients.
Thankful, Dr. Damita Hansen agreed to take my herd on. My anxiety was put to rest if I had an emergency, I had a person to call. Grateful my first encounter was not an emergency, it was for routine spring work. Within minutes I knew I found a very valuable member for keeping my horses healthy and happy! The way she interacted with the horses told me she was a very kind, empathic person. We had detailed conversations about each horse. She was very open to continuing the course of actions from our former veterinary care. I noticed her making detailed notes about each horse. That day that started out so stressful ended with me feeling so very grateful for landing someone who actually cared about my horses. The following year, I decided I wanted soundness evaluations on my herd. They were heading into a season where they would need to be comfortable doing their job! Also some of them were starting to get a little age on them. To my surprise, Dr. Damita and Dr. Chris White would both be involved in the assessment process. I was very impressed with how they worked together, the discussions they had about what they were seeing and how they included me in the process. What they wanted to investigate further for more information. What impressed me was how Dr. Chris offered different treatment options for each of the horses... it wasn't come in and inject everything! He discussed in detail what to expect from each option offered. With their help a treatment plan was tailored to each individual horse. ( 3 horses were treated with Alpha2EQ, 1 with a box of Adequan and another we tried previcox) - each case was a successful treatment plan!
Earlier this year, we were lucky to have another fantastic veterinarian join! Dr. Kristen Pyke, her love for horses is easy to see. She is always willing to answer all my questions ranging from ulcers, if it is worth booster shots to squeezing us in for omg my horse lame exam!
These three are invaluable for keeping the horses in my barn healthy and happy! It's easy to see their passion for horses and how much they care about my horses. Thank you, Dr. Damita, Dr. Chris and Dr. Kristen, for ALL you do for my herd.
